Andrew Geddes

Andrew has spent 37 years in the ophthalmic business sector. He is currently Executive Chairman of the Advisory Board of Vision Ophthalmology Group, Europe’s leading independent provider of specialist ophthalmic supplies used in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases such as cataracts, refractive corrections, retinal detachments, age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma.

Andrew has recently taken a position as Vice President EMEA – Commercial Operations for Glaukos Inc. a medical technology company focused on the development and commercialization of breakthrough ophthalmic products and procedures for the treatment of glaucoma, a leading cause of blindness.

During his association with Medicel AG. Andrew was involved with a ‘technology transfer’ – by way of a charitable gift – to the Aravind Foundation in India, so providing cataract patients in the developing world with ‘free at the point of need’ access to advanced treatment technologies. To date, it is estimated that over 5 million patients in India have benefitted since 2008 from Medicel’s advanced technology used in micro incision cataract surgery.

Elsewhere, Andrew is a patron of Variety and a supporter of the Royal Marines charity for ex-service men injured whilst serving their country. He is also a visiting lecturer on business strategy at Darmstadt University, Frankfurt, Germany.
