We vitally need volunteers who can help us to ensure that the impact of loneliness and isolation on older people is understood – and how The Silver Line is helping to address this through our 24/7/ 365 Helpline and friendship services.
Crucially, we want to reach as many older people as we can – as well as their family, friends and members of their local community who regularly interact with them (e.g. care profession, shopkeepers, postmen etc) – to ensure they know that The Silver Line is there for them around the clock. There is no need to feel lonely.
As a Volunteer Awareness Raiser, we ask you to commit 90 minutes of your time to help us distribute our leaflets to places in your local community where an older person may pick one up, such as your library, GP surgery/pharmacy or community centre as well as any care homes in the area. Perhaps you could also have a friendly conversation to tell them about the services we provide to older people, and direct them to The Silver Line if they have any questions.
We’d love your support to help us spread the word about The Silver Line and the services we offer to support older people who may feel lonely or isolated; and as Volunteer Awareness Raiser you will be supported by The Silver Line team throughout.
If you think this opportunity sounds like something you would like to do on a more long-term basis, please see our Community Engagement Volunteer role.
