Other ways to volunteer with The Silver Line

Corporate Volunteering

We welcome the support of companies and have a bespoke volunteering programme for corporate supporters with staff wishing to become Silver Line Friends.  Please visit our Corporate Volunteering page to find out more.

Fundraising Volunteer

The Silver Line relies on donations to cover the costs of running the helpline and to pay for all Silver Line friendship calls and letters.

Fundraising volunteers support The Silver Line by helping us to raise much-needed funds in their local community. There is no set commitment required in terms of hours and we will work with you to help you plan your approach to fundraising in your area.

Some people recruit a small group of friends or colleagues to work with and support us by:

  • organising local collections (e.g in supermarkets, shopping centres or local events);
  • running fundraising events such as coffee mornings, bakes sales and quizzes;
  • helping us to apply for local funds; or
  • putting The Silver Line forward to be the beneficiary of local events.

If you or your family raise funds for a charity in the workplace, you may like to nominate us for future support, or suggest that we are supported during Silver Week.

However big or small the commitment, you will be making a valuable difference.

Every week it’s like a friend calling. It’s very interesting and I don’t feel so alone. I now have something special every Wednesday – I couldn’t have picked a better person myself.
