In 2016, Yorkshire Building Society (YBS) joined our corporate volunteering programme as part of their corporate responsibility strategy.
Every YBS employee has up to 31 hours paid leave each year to take part in voluntary or charitable activities to cover 7 hours for a team challenge activity, with the remainder being used in small portions of time throughout the year to take part in individual skills based activities including befriending.
Laura Ruth, an assistant branch manager at the Yorkshire Building Society in Morley, who is taking part in the scheme, said: “It’s the most rewarding feeling ever I’ve ever had. Both of us are looking forward to the calls ahead.
“Some older people, for various reasons, just don’t get the chance to speak to anyone for days on end, so The Silver Line is a fantastic charity and becoming a Silver Line Friend is a great opportunity to make someone’s day.” Source
Yorkshire Building Society also won Business of the Year at the Business Charity Awards 2016.
