Marketing Manager for Grand UK Holidays, Sally Hubble-Button, said: “We are delighted to announce that we have chosen a long-time partnership supporting The Silver Line. The service they provide fits so well with our own business ethos and we are committed to raising money and awareness for this much needed charity.
Loneliness as we get older isn’t a new phenomenon. People suffer heartache through losing loved ones and often family have moved away, leaving older people isolated. Disabilities through age can often make it difficult to leave the house un-escorted and in turn can mean that old people can go days, if not weeks, without any human contact.
The Silver Line offers a life-line to these people. A simple idea and yet so effective, their 24- hour helpline means no matter the time of day, or day of the year, there is always someone to talk to. For us, it was an easy decision to select The Silver Line as our chosen charity, and one that has been supported across the whole company. The very core of what we do here at Grand UK Holidays is to make sure older people still have the same opportunities to enjoy holidays, whether they travel alone or with friends. We want to celebrate old age, not shy away from it, and we believe that no-one should ever suffer loneliness.”
